MLW Has Reportedly Had TV Talks With Amazon
It was previously reported that MLW had been in talks with other TV networks about their content, with Showtime reportedly interested. Now it seems MLW may have been talking with another interested party. PWInsider reports that MLW has had talks with Amazon in recent weeks about bringing their programming to Amazon Prime streaming. Amazon is focusing on gaining live programming and are even reportedly in the running for rights to NFL content. It’s believed Amazon would know of the popularity of wrestling due to their data from direct-to-consumer sales, Prime and their cloud services, which handle the infrastructure for other streaming outlets.
There is believed to be a writer’s strike on the way, and a wrestling show like MLW would be considered “non-union” and wouldn’t have any members of the Writer’s Guild involved. This adds to its value as networks constantly need new content, especially if the strike happens. MLW is still meeting with other outlets. A source said that it was a “fluid situation” and there is “momentum in a few directions with major players.”
