As previously reported, WWE is said to be making a big push for the return of Ronda Rousey, and Rousey’s name has been mentioned as a possible entrant for the women’s Royal Rumble match at this weekend’s event. Dave Meltzer reported additional details on Rousey’s rumored WWE return on today’s Wrestling Observer Radio.

While Meltzer “presumed” that Rousey would be at the Rumble this weekend, he reported that Rousey is scheduled to be at WrestleMania 38 in April. So her appearing at the Rumble would likely set up a possible headlining match at WrestleMania. The initial report by Fightful Select that Rousey’s name was mentioned as a possible entrant for the women’s Royal Rumble match, with discussions of Rousey having “some participation” in the match.

Meltzer also stated the “impression” he was given for Rousey is that her WrestleMania 38 matchup will be against reigning Raw Women’s champion Becky Lynch.

PWInsider also had some additional details on the rumored return of Ronda Rousey to WWE. According to PWInsider’s report, at least one WWE official traveled to California last week in order to meet with Rousey.

In addition, Rousey’s makeup artist and stylist when she last worked with WWE, Abraham Esparza, is set to be at the Royal Rumble this weekend and the following Monday Night Raw. Esparza’s attendance at the shows has reportedly been in place for weeks.

Multiple sources who are said to be aware of WWE’s plans for the Royal Rumble also indicated that “it’s all on Rousey” at the moment and whether or not she wants to pull the trigger on a WWE return. WWE is said to be ready for a Rousey return and wants her to appear at WrestleMania 38.

Last year, during an interview with Colin Cowherd, WWE President Nick Khan did say on Rousey, “Ronda is going to be coming back at a certain point in time.”

Rousey last wrestled for WWE in the main event at WrestleMania 35 in 2019 in a Triple Threat, Winner Takes All Match against Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair. Lynch won the match after pinning Ronda Rousey.
