The Name on the Marquee: Smoky Mountain Wrestling (11.5.1994)

-Originally aired November 5, 1994.

-Your hosts are Jim Ross & Les Thatcher.

BRIAN LEE & LANCE STORM vs. BRIAN LOGAN & THE INFERNO
-Beautiful dropkick by Storm on Brian Logan. Logan comes back with a big clothesline and works the arm. Jobbers try to double-team, but Storm blocks it and tags in Brian Lee, who wipes out both opponents. Big boot to the Inferno’s face. Storm climbs onto Lee’s shoulders and launches himself onto Inferno with a bodypress for three.

-Flashback: Boo Bradley kicks Cactus Jack’s ass because Tammy told him to.

-Les Thatcher is now live at ringside with Brian Lee and Cactus Jack. Brian and Lance flipped a coin, Brian lost, and now he has to be Cactus’ tag team partner for a match against Boo Bradley & Chris Candido. Boo Bradley wanders to ringside, asking to talk to Cactus. He apologizes for last week’s shenanigans, and then introduces the world to his only other friend in the world, Boots the Cat. Tammy brings the cat to ringside and threatens to kill the cat if Boo disobeys her again. Cactus laments that “Boo Bradley’s fascination with pussy has led him astray,” and Les doesn’t blink at that line at all.

-Da Gangstas are at the project with the still-unnamed third member, preparing weapons like bricks and car batteries for Thanksgiving Thunder.

BOO BRADLEY (with Tammy Fytch & Boots) vs. CHAD AUSTIN
-Bradley beats Austin down while Tammy constantly threatens to kill the cat if he screws up. Boots is amazingly chill about this whole thing, just cuddled up against Tammy the entire time Tammy is threatening her with the bitch knob turned up to 11.

-Tammy threatens to kill the cat again for anyone failing to grasp the subtle nuances of this storyline.

CONFRONTATION WITH JIM ROSS
-A member of the SMW board of directors, Ron West, is here to act as mediator while Jim Cornette and Bruiser Bedlam confront Bob Armstrong. Jim Cornette demands “no funny business” from the SMW board of directors. If Bob Armstrong loses, he’s GONE. No masked man, no mystery commissioner, no tricks. Ron West agrees, but reminds Cornette that this is a two-way street and Cornette doesn’t get to weasel out of the foot-kissing stipulation.

BEAT THE CHAMP TV TITLE: BRYANT ANDERSON (Champion, with Ole Anderson) vs. SHAWN CASEY

-Casey gets Bryant down on the mat, which gets Ole so rankled that he GETS OUT OF THE CHAIR. Bryant fights back, but they keep it on the mat. Les Thatcher calls Shawn “homeboy” with the whitest inflection ever thrust upon that word while Bryant takes control by working the arm. Bryant whips Ole around. Shawn attempts a dropkick, but crashes on the mat, and Bryant capitalizes with a shoulderbreaker and an armbar for the submission.

-Ole proclaims his son to be the superior Anderson, and the TV Title is just the start.

-We go to footage of Jim Cornette training for his match against Ron Wright and Dirty White Boy. For a sobering look at what the stress of running your own wrestling promotion can do, watch Cornette on the first SMW TV show three years ago, and take a look at his build here. And no sooner do I type that than Cornette and Bruiser do a funny bit of shtick about their “nutrition plan” which involves extra mayo on the burgers. Next, Cornette breaks out the prop comedy, with Geritol and Preparation H to taunt Ron Wright.

-DWB and Ron Wright say they can be mean, nasty backstabbing bastards just like Cornette and his men.

-And now, for padding, here’s the Express/Gangstas brawl and subsequent spontaneous battle royal from last week.

The final score: review Poor

Pretty flimsy week, with the Cactus angle taking a pretty sharp wrong turn and no real new developments in anything.
