NJPW New Japan Cup Final Results 3.21.23: SANADA Wins First New Japan Cup

– The NJPW New Japan Cup Final was held earlier today in Niigata, Japan at the Aore Nagaoka. The event had an announce attendance of 3,384 people. In the main event, SANADA faced David Finlay in the finals of the 2023 New Japan Cup Tournament.

SANADA defeated Finlay to win the first New Japan Cup of his career. He will now challenge Kazuchika Okada for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship at a later date. Below are some results, per New Japan’s website:

* Just 2 Guys (DOUKI & Taichi) beat Yuto Nakashima & Hiroshi Tanahashi at 10:03.
* Ryohei Oiwa & Shota Umino beat TMDK (Kosei Fujita & Zack Sabre Jr.) at 9:44.
* The Bullet Club (El Phantasmo, Chase Owens & KENTA) beat Tomoaki Honma, Tomohiro Ishii & Tama Tonga at 8:14.
* House of Torture (EVIL, Dick Togo, Yujiro Takahashi & SHO) beat Ryusuke Taguchi, Toru Yano, Ren Narita & El Desperado at at 2:45.
* A vignette was shown teasing that something is “coming soon.” You can view that clip below.
* Los Ingobernables De Japon (Shingo Takagi & Tetsuya Naito) beat The United Empire (Aaron Henare & Great-O-Khan) at 12:43.
* The United Empire (Jeff Cobb, Kyle Fletcher & Mark Davis) beat CHAOS (YOSHI-HASHI, Hirooki Goto & Kazuchika Okada) at 11:13.
* IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship Match: Hiromu Takahashi (c) beat Lio Rush at 21:27 using the Time Bomb II in order to retain the title.
* Robbie Eagles joins TMDK. He then challenged Hiromu Takahashi for a shot at the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship. The match will occur on April 8 at NJPW Sakura Genesis in Ryogoku.
* New Japan Cup Final: SANADA beat David Finlay with a Modified DDT.
* After the match, SANADA declared war on reigning IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada.
