NJPW Wrestle Grand Slam

– In the main event of today’s NJPW Wrestling Dontaku 2021 Night 2 event, Will Ospreay retained the IWGP World Heavyweight title against Shingo Takagi. With the win, Will Ospreay will now face Kazuchika Okada in the main event at Wrestle Grand Slam later this month, with the title on the line in the main event (via NJPW1972.com).

After winning the IWGP World title last month, Will Ospreay demanded a rematch against Okada from their bout at the Tokyo Dome last January, this time with the title on the line. It was then decided that Shingo Takagi would receive the first shot against Ospreay, and then Okada would face the winner at Wrestle Grand Slam. Now, that Ospreay has defended his title against Takagi, his desired rematch against Okada will now move forward.

Wrestle Grand Slam is set for Saturday, May 29 at the Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan. The event will be streamed live on NJPW World.
