Details On Original Plan For NXT TakeOver: WarGames Title Match & What’s Next For Adam Cole
November 19, 2017 | Posted by
Dave Meltzer mentioned on Wrestling Observer Radio that the original plan for NXT TakeOver last night was to have Adam Cole vs. Drew McIntyre for the NXT Title rather than McIntyre vs. Andrade “Cien” Almas. WWE changed plans because once the decision was made to bring back WarGames at the show, they wanted Adam Cole in that match.
With McIntyre suffering an injury last night following his loss to Almas, Cole is likely next in line to challenge Almas for the title.
Meltzer also noted that he wasn’t sure if WWE was planning to call McIntyre up to the main roster after last night’s show, and how his injury potentially impacts that.
