On the latest edition of Talk Is Jericho, Nyla Rose discussed the criticism from some people about trans women competing against cisgender women in wrestling. Highlights are below.

On the double standard when it comes to criticism of trans wrestlers as oppose to intergender matches: “I think there’s a lot of misconceptions and a lot of people conflate their personal feelings with actual facts. Especially with us being in wrestling, because you look online, anytime I do anything, if I tweet I woke up in the morning, it’s going to be a negative thread, anytime I do anything, people have everything in the world to say about it, but they don’t keep that same energy for straight up intergender matches, I never see the hate, it’s always, ‘Oh, beat her ass, get her!’ And I’m like, ‘Wait a minute, wait a minute, hold up, where’s the same energy? Ya’ll are protesting me, but here’s a man, born as a man, wrestling as a man, wrestling a woman and ya’ll are absolutely OK with that.”

On the criticism that trans women are competing against women in sports and dominating: “I don’t think it’s gotten that far, and I probably should know that, I don’t really follow sports, so I guess like the national level or whatever is below the Olympics, it definitely does happen, but it’s hilarious because, again, these people are so wrapped up in their rage that they don’t pay attention to the facts. For instance, there was a young man in Texas, he was wrestling women, young man wrestling on the women’s wrestling team in his high school, annihilated everybody, won the state championship two years in a row, here’s the twist to the story, he’s a transgender man, he asked to wrestle with the men, and the state was like, ‘No, you were born a woman, you’re wrestling with the women.’ But anytime you watch people retweet the story and talk about the story, ‘Aw! He shouldn’t be there!’ No shit, he shouldn’t be there. He asked to be with the men. So it’s this fake rage that a lot of people, they don’t even want to hear the facts or learn the science, they’re just comfortable in their little bubble.”
