Recap Of Linda McMahon On The Today Show
Linda Mahon was interviewed by Matt Lauer on the Today Show this morning. McMahon is running for Chris Dodd’s U.S. Senate seat, and she was asked to comment on yesterday’s announcement that Dodd will be retiring and will not seek reelection. McMahon could not say definitively how she believes Dodd’s retirement will affect the race, but she did admit that Dodd’s absence may clear the way for a more competitive Democratic opponent.
McMahon was asked what exactly qualifies her for national elected office, and she replied that the people of Connecticut want someone from outside the political system. She said that she has thirty years of business experience and built a company from a small regional promotion to a worldwide entity. She even explained that she understands how difficult it is for people in today’s economy, because early in their business careers she and Vince were unable to even get credit themselves. Throughout her entire discussion of her business accomplishments, McMahon never said the words “World Wrestling Entertainment” or “professional wrestling.”
Finally, McMahon was asked to comment on the security breaches that allowed a terrorist on a Detroit-bound plane on Christmas Day, and she said that she is eagerly awaiting the results of the investigation into the incident. McMahon did stumble over her words a few times and seemed a bit uneasy at points, but her appearance on a nationally televised morning show does lend an air of credibility to her campaign.
