ROH News: I-PPV Buys, Upcoming Matches In March, More

March 3, 2011 | Posted by Larry Csonka

– Internally, ROH was only expecting 1,000 buys for the 9th Anniversary I-PPV event. But word is that they did in excess of 1,500 buys. Considering they did not have any big angles or the hook like the end of the Genwerico vs. Steen feud, the promotion is very happy with these numbers.

– They were also happy with the Chicago crowd, which was one of their biggest crowds in that market in many months. The feeling is that the fanbase is responding to the I-PPV events as more important and are going out of their way to see the shows.

– Adam Cole is currently touring Great Britain.

– There are not many tickets left for the Atlanta events WrestleMania on WrestleMania weekend.

– The March 18th show, titled “Defy or Deny takes place in Plymout, MA. The show is headlined by ROH champion Roderick Strong vs. El Generico vs. Homicide vs. Jay Briscoe with the storyline being that if Strong wins, none of the three can challenge him again for the title. Davey Richards vs. Claudio Castagnoli is also scheduled.

The March 19th show t the Manhattan Center in New York City will feature ROH champ Roderick Strong defends vs. Eddie Edwards, ROH Tag Team champions The Kings of Wrestling vs. LAX and ROH TV champion Christopher Daniels vs. Davey Richards under Pure Wrestling rules.
