– NASCAR driver Ryan Newman was in a nasty car crash this week during the 62nd Daytona 500. During the race, Newman’s car flipped in the air and was flung across the track. Newman was quickly taken to the hospital, where NASCAR later announced that he was in “serious condition” with injuries that are said to not be life threatening. WWE’s Stephanie McMahon and Sheamus, who served as the NASCAR pace car driver on Sunday, later commented on Newman on Twitter, which you can see below.

Sheamus tweeted, “My thoughts are with Ryan Newman & his family right now. Devastated at the news of his crash at Daytona 500. Such a brave & awesome guy. #PrayingForRyan”

Stephanie McMahon stated, “Praying for Ryan Newman, his family and the entire NASCAR community tonight. Sending well wishes for a fast recovery! #Prayers4Newman”

Newman is currently hospitalized at the Halifax Medical Center. His team later issued the following statement (h/t USA Today):

“But doctors have indicated his injuries are not life threatening. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers and ask that you respect the privacy of Ryan and his family during this time. We appreciate your patience and cooperation and we will provide more information as it becomes available.”
