In a post on Instagram earlier today, Sylvester Stallone hyped some sort of announcement for his new film Creed 2, which he was set to direct. That tease included Brock Lesnar, leading to speculation that The Beast could appear in the sequel.

The announcement, however, ended up being that Stallone will no longer direct Creed 2, letting Steven Caple Jr. take his place. It’s unknown at this time why Lesnar was included in the tease when he wasn’t part of the announcement.

The film is set to see Adonis Creed battling the son of Ivan Drago, Victor Drago. Victor’s father killed Adonis’ father in Rocky IV. It will begin filming this February in Philadelphia. Casting directors wanted a “big fighter” to play Victor, preferably in his 20s or 30s. PWInsider adds that producers wanted someone with legitimate amateur or professional fighting experience, specifically MMA. Producers have also been reading actors for the role for weeks.

So it’s still possible that Lesnar could have a role in Creed 2, but it seems Stallone caused a lot of speculation over nothing at this time.
