Csonka Reviews This Week’s Free Women’s Matches With Tessa Blanchard, Toni Storm, & More

OFFICIAL RESULTS
WWN Supershow 4.01.17 : Champion LuFisto defeated Toni Storm @ 7:25 via pin [**¼]
From SHINE 45: SHINE Nova Champion Priscilla Kelly defeated Jordynne Grace @ 10:50 via submission [***]
From SHINE 35: Rachel Ellering defeated Tessa Blanchard @ 9:40 via pin [***½]

SHINE Title Match: Champion LuFisto vs. Toni Storm: Su Yung reportedly no showed or was reportedly fired (there was a lot of drama around it over the weekend), so she’s out. All I know is some shit went down. But fuck it, we got Toni Storm; Toni attacked right away, sent LuFisto to the floor and hit a suicide dive leading to a brawl on the floor, with LuFisto posting Toni. They fought back into the ring; LuFisto worked the head for a bit until Toni fired up with strikes and kicks but LuFisto cut her off, hitting a curb stomp. Toni started to put some sustained offense together, but LuFisto slammed her to the corner and hit the cannonball and face wash for the near fall. Toni escaped the burning hammer; hit the snap German suplex and running kick for 2. Toni again fought back, but LuFisto cut her off, hit the burning hammer and retained. Champion LuFisto defeated Toni Storm @ 7:25 via pin [**¼]Solid match as they made the best of things and Storm was more than a suitable replacement. I’d like to see a rematch at some point, where they actually have some time to lay things out and such.

SHINE Nova Champion Priscilla Kelly vs. Jordynne Grace: Grace uses hand sanitizer before locking up with Kelly. They work some nice counter wrestling out of the lock up. Kelly grounds the larger challenger, but Grace quickly escapes, taking Kelly down and they both look for pin attempts, and we end in a stalemate. They work through some standing switches, Grace hits a shoulder block, picks up the pace and hits another shoulder block. Kelly cuts off the big boot, follows with a knee strike but Grace hits a belly to back suplex for 2. Grace hits repeated Irish whips, but Kelly hits a running boot and covers for 2. Kelly takes control, hitting snap mare and kicks. The running boot gets 2 for Kelly. Kelly then chokes her out in the ropes, working the count and then hitting a dropkick, and covering for 2. Grace misses a corner charge, Kelly hits a Saito suplex and covers for 2. Kelly hits a pair of bicycle kicks, but runs into a spinebuster for the double down. They trade strikes from their knees, Kelly throws strikes but Grace cuts that off with a Michinoku driver for a good near fall. Grace then works the bear hug, Kelly counters into a guillotine but Grace hits the suplex to stop that. Kelly fires back with kicks, heads up top and hits the high cross for 2. Kelly now hits the STO, covering again for 2. Grace digs deep and hits the Liger bomb for a good near fall. Kelly hits a German, Russian leg sweep and locks in her trapped in sin submission hold to retain the title. Post match, the Cutie Pie Club attacks, but Kelly fights them off. She and Grace then shake hands. SHINE Nova Champion Priscilla Kelly defeated Jordynne Grace @ 10:50 via submission [***] This was a good match overall, with the ladies playing well off of the powerhouse challenger vs. resilient and smaller champion dynamic.

Tessa Blanchard vs. Rachel Ellering: Blanchard won their match at SHINE 34. They play to the crowd and talk some trash to begin. Ellering attacked right away, but Blanchard quickly bailed to the floor. Ellering chased, good back and forth to begin, with a frantic pace. Ellering hit a superman punch, heads up top but Blanchard elbows her to the floor. Blanchard follows and slams Ellering to the wall, and then into a chair. Back in and Blanchard covers for 1. Blanchard starts laying in some insulting little kicks before choking her out. Blanchard is showing great aggression as she works the heat on Ellering. Blanchard grounds the action, trying to take away Ellering’s power advantage. Blanchard then lays the boots to her, but Ellering fires up with a rolling elbow and follows with the bossman slam for the double down. They make it back to the feet, trading strikes and Ellering hits the big boot, but Blanchard hits the cover, covering for 2. Blanchard follows with kicks, but is getting frustrated as Ellering keeps fighting back and refusing to quit. Ellering fires the fuck up and just starts landing big time rights, the leg drop off the ropes connects for 2. They work counters, Ellering fires away with more rights, but Blanchard cuts her off with the hammerlock DDT. Blanchard crawls over and cover, but Ellering kicks out. Ellering counters out of the slingshot suplex once, but Blanchard goes back to it, dropping Ellering on her dome; the cover gets 2. Blanchard now heads up top, Ellering pulls her off, hits a spear and follows with the TKO for the win. Rachel Ellering defeated Tessa Blanchard @ 9:40 via pin [***½] This was a very good match, there was no messing around as they played off of their previous match well as well as the fact that Blanchard was being disrespectful to Ellering’s father, adding some good emotion to things. There was no fucking around, these two got straight to business, tried to kill each other, but Ellering was able to outlast and overcome to tie their SHINE series at 1-1.

– End scene.

– Thanks for reading.

This was a pretty good set of matches overall, with Blanchard vs. Ellering being the one to make time for out of the three.
