– During a recent edition of the Talk N Shop podcast (via Fightful) featuring the Young Bucks, former WWE Superstar The Good Brothers (Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson) jokingly blamed former WWE stablemate in The OC, AJ Styles, into “Christian Bullying” the tag team into staying with WWE. Ultimately, The Good Brothers were released from WWE in April 2020 as part of a wave of pandemic-related cuts. This is after they had signed new lucrative, multi-year contracts with WWE the previous year.

Basically, when their contracts were nearly up, Styles opted to stay in WWE, and he likewise campaigned for his friends and teammates to stay in WWE. Gallows said on AJ Styles asking about AEW: “He goes, ‘what do you think about this AEW thing, do you think it’s legit or not?’ We’re like, ‘Yeah, we think it’s legit.’ We’re talking about who is going and what is happening and he started pecking away at us because he knew he didn’t want to be by himself. That’s what I’m sad about. I wish we had him with us because I miss him so much and he misses this.”

Anderson discussed Styles talking with them and campaigning for them to stay in WWE when they originally planned to leave in 2019. Anderson stated, “AJ walked up to us after we thought we were leaving and said, ‘How much will it take for ya’ll to stay?’ We said a number, he said ‘Alright,’ and he walked away. He went to bat for us hard.”

Meanwhile, Matt Jackson of the Young Bucks revealed that he actually called him personally to thank him for helping secure his new WWE contract in 2019. Styles nearly joined AEW as well in 2019, but he ultimately re-upped with WWE as well. Jackson revealed, “Shortly after, he called me up and he’s like, ‘Hey Matt, I just wanna say freakin’ thank you, man. I would have never got the offer I got if you guys didn’t create this thing.’ Well, you’re welcome, I guess, AJ.”

Gallows then responded to Jackson, “There’s a voicemail full of guys who need to make the same call.”
