The Miz on His Fight to Gain Respect in the WWE Locker Room
– During a recent interview with The Athletic ahead of WrestleMania 39, WWE Superstar The Miz spoke about his career and recalled the story of being kicked out of the WWE locker room by Chris Benoit and fighting for acceptance. Below are some highlights:
The Miz on his fight to gain respect in the WWE locker room: “A lot of people would tell me, ‘How come you didn’t just fight the dude who kicked you out?’ Locker rooms are about respect from your peers. If you don’t have that, fighting the locker room is not going to get it. It’s taking a slice of humble pie, figuring out what you did wrong, and making it right.”
On his reactions from the WWE crowd: “It’s taken a long, long time, but now when I hear the audience, there’s some cheers and boos, and the boos are because they’re going along with it and it’s more fun.”
The Miz would eventually go on to headline WrestleMania and become a two-time WWE Grandslam Champion. He’s currently scheduled to host WrestleMania 39 later this weekend.
