TNA House Show Results: London, England – 1.24.09
Thanks to 411 reader Dave A. for sending the results along:
– Well just gone 1am in the morning here in the UK, and just got home from TNA’ final UK show at London’s Wembley Arena.
– It was a complete sell out and the crowd were fantastic all night (Not sure on the exact number but defiantly 6-7000+ in attendance). The Card was slightly different again as each previous show, here is a brief outline (in best order as I can remember been a long day).
– Opened up with JB pumping up the crowd….
– Card kicked off with a fun four way for the X Division title between Jay Lethal, Eric Young, the UK’s own Doug Williams and Champion Alex Shelly, with Shelly retaining.
– Next up was Creed vs. Big Poppa Pump, Poppa Pump went over via submission with the Steiner Recliner
– Then onto Bashir vs. Brutus Magnus (what an awful name), Bashir won pinning Magnus with his feet on the ropes till Rudy Charles come down and restarted the match which Magnus then won in about 40 seconds..
– Time for the ladies, with The Beautiful People v Taylor Wilde and ODB, ODB who was over big time, shaking that ass, and groping Taylor to the delight of the male fans in attendance.
– Final match before the intermission was the Street brawl between Team 3D and Beer Money, which took the crown up a notch, with Team 3D finishing with the 3D through a table… Team 3D then spoke to the crowd, and went down really well leaving all happy by the break….
– During the break Dixie came out with two of the belts, and fans were lining up to have photos taken with the straps…
– Second half of the card, and Dixie and Mick Foley where out addressing the crowd, with Mick getting the pop that a legend deserves, and the big announcement that TNA will be back in London sometime either for a PPV or a live broadcast/special to air on Bravo in the UK (Sign me up now!).
– Next match, and best of the night (Not to mention the biggest pop), went to AJ Styles and Samoa Joe vs. Abyss and Matt Morgan, with Joe and AJ winning after AJ hit the Springboard 450 on Morgan (after Abyss and Morgan had another lil mishap with Abyss hitting Morgan accidentally with a boot). After the match, Morgan had a go at Abyss then brawling, with Abyss going out to get a chair and Morgan bailing out.
– Time for the main event, Kurt Angle against Jeff Jarrett, not a bad match but not as good as their recent PPV outing, Jarrett won after Big Poppa Pump came down, followed by Foley, with a special appearance by Mr. Socko, allowing Jarrett to nail Angle with the guitar, which some shrapnel managed to bust open Jarrett himself.
– After the match, Foley asked some of the guys to come down, and a few words from double JJ, all in all a great night, and looking forward to the next time.
– On a separate note, if TNA do run another show at Wembley, and you take a digital camera don’t take a digital SLR as it will get taken away, even after TNA ask for you to take as many photos as possible and send them in to them, as the Wembley staff think you a pro, and out to make money!
