Torrie Wilson Discusses Wrestling In a Bikini, Addresses Criticism Of Her Hall of Fame Induction
– Torrie Wilson appeared on Busted Open Radio on Tuesday to discuss her WWE Hall of Fame induction. You can see listen to a clip below and check out excerpts from said clip of her conversation with Bully Ray and Dave LaGreca:
On always giving her best effort and being entertaining even if she wasn’t the best wrestler: “100%! I mean, I think some of the people that are angry are the same people that are forgetting that this is an entertainment show, and I was not calling the shots backstage going, ‘Hey Vince, can I please wrestle in a bikini tonight?’ And I actually was, you know, I actually was out there with Fit Finlay going, ‘Okay, what’s the most athletic match I can put together with a bikini on?’ [laughs]”
On when she found out: “I was actually in Sedona, Arizona a couple of weeks ago doing, like a spiritual retreat. And Mark Carano called me one night when I was in bed and asked me what I was doing WrestleMania weekend. I totally just thought he was inviting me up. And you know, I already had plans to go to WrestleCon. And he said, ‘Well you know, we might want to invite you to the Hall of Fame.’ And I’m like, ‘Oh! Well, this changes everything. Yes, of course I’d love to hang out.'”
On doubting herself after the call: “I don’t know if it’s human nature, I believe that it is. Like, fear kind of runs our world. And immediately when I hung up the phone I sat there and thought like — I basically started putting together this list of all the things I’m not. I was never a champion, you knnow, I could really just start — I could do much better than my haters about beating myself up. And then I had to put myself in check, and say, ‘You know, but there are a lot of things that I am. And I’m not gonna be — like, I’m not Charlotte Flair. I’m not jumping off ladders. But I am Torrie Wilson and I did have something to bring to the table. And I think for most people, we are just too quick to start looking at the negatives and losing focus on what we can bring to the table.”
"I'm not @MsCharlotteWWE. I'm not jumping off ladders, but I am Torrie Wilson, and I did have something to bring to the table."
