Update on Brock Lesnar’s WWE Status, Potential Appearances
– At yesterday’s Crown Jewel event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Brock Lesnar defeated Braun Strowman in under three minutes to win the WWE Universal title. Dave Meltzer spoke about Brock Lesnar’s current WWE status on the latest edition of The Wrestling Observer Radio.
According to Meltzer, Lesnar is signed with WWE for at least two more appearances. WWE has already announced that Lesnar will face WWE world champion AJ Styles at Survivor Series later this month. So, that would apparently be one of the apparent two matches. The other is speculated as being for the Royal Rumble or WrestleMania 35 next year (2019); that is if he only has one other contracted WWE appearance left.
Additionally, Brock Lesnar is still expected to return to the UFC and face the heavyweight champion sometime next year. UFC heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier is slated to fight Derrick Lewis later today at UFC 230 in New York City. Lesnar is currently in the USADA drug testing pool, and he would be eligible to fight in MMA again starting January 2019.
If all goes according to plan, Lesnar would likely face Cormier or tonight’s winner for the UFC heavyweight title. Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones has also expressed interest in wanting to face Lesnar in MMA to the media.
