Latest Update on Health of Ric Flair Following Surgery
– As previously reported, WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair was admitted to the hospital earlier this week and placed in a medically induced coma and underwent surgery. There were a number of conflicting reports on the nature of his health issues, but his girlfriend Wendy Barlow stated that Flair was suffering from “multiple organ problems.” Some new information has now been reported on Flair’s current hospitalization and how his heart is functioning.
Justin Barrasso and SI.com reported that Flair’s surgery involved removing a part of his bowel. Additionally, Dave Meltzer revealed the following during last night’s edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio (via Wrestlezone.com):
“[Flair] had an external pacemaker put in to help his heart, and the last I heard is that his heart is beating normally, so that is a positive. And he’s on the kidney dialysis. It’s definitely better than it was Monday – Tuesday, when things looked really bad, but it’s still a rough go and it’s going to be a rough go for awhile. He’s still got an infection…I don’t know what the infection is, I know they did not know before, but they may know now, but I think there’s been a problem as fas as giving him antibiotics, because of his weakened condition. So it’s a bad situation.”
Meltzer also stated during the show that Flair did not suffer a heart attack during his current hospitalization. Additionally, his recent surgery reportedly led to other complications, and Flair might be in the hospital for more than a month.
