PWInsider has an update on Billy Corgan’s purchase of the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA). The Smashing Pumpkins frontman has reportedly now signed an agreement to purchase the NWA from Bruce Tharpe. The deal includes the name, rights, and trademarks to the NWA, along with all rights and possession of the NWA championship belt.

Additionally, the deal has reportedly been configured to include Tharpe’s position in the NWA on Demand VOD service and the Paul Boesch wrestling library. Ownership for the library remains with the Boesch family, as the deal was setup when Tharpe utilized the library. Under the agreement, Corgan has the same rights and responsibilities to the library that Tharpe did.

Per the report, there are not expected to be any major changes made to the NWA at this time. However, everything is going to be looked at and examined as a long-term move. It’s said to be “business as usual” for the current NWA and promoters who are licensed under the NWA name at this time.
