Update On Davey Boy Smith Jr In MLW And His Possible Future
As we previously reported, Davey Boy Smith is set to return to MLW for the Restart and will challenge MLW Champion Jacob Fatu. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that the relationship between MLW head Court Bauer and Smith are “fine.” Smith has known Bauer since he was a teenager in 2004 and has “always liked him.”
As for MLW, Smith is under contract until December 18. He had been planning to be a regular for All Japan Pro Wrestling and was set for the Champion Carnival tournament before the pandemic.
In an interesting note, Smith was at Chris Jericho’s Halloween party this past week and spoke to Tony Khan. However they do not plan to talk business until his MLW contract is up. There is also interest in him from the WWE, where he previously wrestled and became a tag team champion. Impact and AJPW are also interested while MLW hopes to re-sign him.
Smith has not indicated where he will go but said it will be based on the offer and whatever makes the most sense business-wise.
