It was reported last month that Davey Boy Smith Jr revealed in an interview that his contract with MLW will expire in December. The latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has more details on his current status with the company and what his future in wrestling could be.

Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, he had been planned for a feud with current MLW Champion Jacob Fatu. He also had plans to start in All Japan during the Champion Carnival. He currently has interest in working for AEW, WWE or Impact. He had an offer to work with Ken Shamrock on Impact, but his MLW contract stopped it. The problem with his current deal is that it’s an exclusive deal but he’s only paid per appearance.

As for WWE, he hopes that if he signs with them he would like to be on NXT UK or the main roster. He reportedly believes that since TJ Wilson is a producer now, he won’t be overlooked. MLW recently sent a cease-and-desist to WWE after Smith made an appearance on The Bump. He will also make an appearance to induct his father into the WWE Hall of Fame, whenever that actually happens. After it was cancelled in April, it was planned for August, but that was cancelled as well. It may not happen until next year’s Wrestlemania.

Smith has been working on gymnastics during his time off, and he also got a purple belt in BJJ under Rafael Garcia and Rinaldo Ribeiro Dos Santos.
