WWE Reportedly Still Considers the Piledriver a Banned Move
– WWE reportedly has not lifted the apparent restrictions on the piledriver move, despite some variations recently showing up in NXT. According to a report by Ringside News, WWE still categorizes the move as banned.
Most recently, Adam Cole used a flipping piledriver, or Canadian Destroyer, on Ricochet during the Halftime Heat match during the Super Bowl. Punishment Martinez also used it on Matt Riddle at an NXT show. Despite the ban, it appears Superstars can still get special permission to execute the move. So, if you happen to see it on TV, it’s because the talents have been given approval to use it.
