WWE Employee Morale Down Following Friday’s Layoffs

As previously reported, WWE released over 100 employees on Friday as part of cost-cutting measures after the UFC-WWE merger that was finalized last week. PWInsider reports that morale was “decimated” among employees after this past weekend. There will be an “all hands on deck” meeting on Tuesday in Stamford with WWE President Nick Khan.
It was said to be a “sad morning” today as the employees who returned from working remotely on Friday realized how many people were gone. It was described as “a lot of processing” going on, especially with the knowledge there will need to be “heavy lifting” in the immediate future to pick up the slack from the released employees, due to divisions now being smaller.
Not every division was hit with layoffs but Khan in an email on Friday that the layoffs are done.
It was noted by employees that this “wouldn’t have happened” when Stephanie McMahon was in chare, as she worked hard to build morale and pride among the staff. Of course no matter what her reputation is, she wouldn’t have been able to stop the sale.
There were no layoffs on the UFC side, likely because WWE owns 49% of the new company and UFC has majority.
