WWE May Increase Number of NXT Takeover Events Starting Next Year

WWE currently runs five NXT Takeover events per year, but that number could go up to six if the latest rumor is to be believed. WrestleVotes reports that WWE is looking to add a sixth Takeover in 2020, depending on how NXT’s ratings look on the USA Network.

The currently schedule for WWE’s NXT specials include Royal Rumble weekend, Wrestlemania weekend, an event in June, Summerslam weekend and Survivor Series weekend. WWE has held five Takeover events a year except in 2014 and 2016, where there were four each.

The tweet reads: “A source states adding a 6th TakeOver event is a real possibility in 2020, all dependent on how the USA Network numbers look. The current TakeOver schedule of Jan, Mania weekend, June, Aug & Nov makes finding a slot for a 6th show a bit difficult.”
