WWE Planning Strong Female Presence For The Mae Young Classic
According to Pwinsider Elite (via wrestlinginc.com), the plan for the Mae Young Classic is to have a very strong female presence. The tournament, which will tape on July 13th & 14th, will include 32-women. There has been talk of using female announcers, likely two to go along with one male announcer (Jim Ross). The women announcers have not been confirmed, but the company could go with Renee Young and Charly Caruso or with a guest WWE Hall of Famer, like Lita or Beth Phoenix.
There’s also been talk of using female referees for the tournament. It was reported last week that WWE has signed independent wrestler Kennadi Brink as a referee for the company, she will likely be used as an official for the tournament..
At this time, a debut date has not been announced, but the plan is to release 3 or 4 episodes at a time instead of one new episode each week. There are also plans to hold a live WWE Network special for the tournament finals.
