WWE Releases NXT Recruit Leo Gao
– WWE has released NXT trainee Leo Gao from his contract on Friday. Gao was hired after a tryout in China, and his release is said to be injury-related according to Pro Wrestling Sheet.
According to the site, Gao hurt his neck during training in August and while he was cleared for limited work in the ring, the injury is said to be very serious. PWS notes that while Gao didn’t appear on television, he was a favorite at the Performance Center and WWE posted an article when he was signed in April about why he “Leo Gao might become your favorite WWE recruit.”
WWE also released NXT’s Sawyer Fulton on Friday. Gao posted to Twitter today and said:
