411’s WWE Straight to The Source Report: Roman Reigns

-New show time for The Network as Graves gets his own interview show. JBL and Renee each had a go at this and were cancelled so we will see how long this one lasts. Obviously I prefer Renee over Graves, but I’m sure he would understand why. His first guest is Roman Reigns and we will see how this goes.

-Graves welcomes Reigns to his show and jokes that since this is a new show he isn’t sure what it is yet or what it will be. This interview took place after Survivor Series and the first thing Graves wants to know about is Reigns’ recent health scare. Roman says he ended up with the mumps and that it is such an old school disease that a lot of the nurses didn’t believe it.

-He was disappointed as he had to sit out the Main Event reunion with The Shield. It gave him a chance to reflect and make him thankful for his health. He says it was all positive stuff as he got to stay home with his family for 3 weeks and then had to get back into a frame of mind to get back to work.

-Graves brings up Angle being a one night only member of The Shield, but nothing can replace that original trio. Reigns jokes that top guys only can fill in for The Shield as they show HHH becoming a member during the overseas tour.

-Graves asks how it feels to be back with Rollins and Ambrose. He says his life has moved so fast the last 6 months. He talks about how they were only together for about 18 months and it seemed like it was years. He calls all three of them top guys.

-Roman jokes that he has noticed that Ambrose is doing a lot more flexing than normal and it has caught him and Seth off guard. Graves mentions he came up with all 3 of them and it has been fun watching all of them evolve and come back and still have the same chemistry.

-They discuss the polarizing reaction that Roman receives as they show the crowd cheering like crazy for him and then booing him out of the building. Graves wants to know if the split reaction bothers Reigns. Roman says he loves it as he wants the fans to do what they want, but he wants to know he put everything into it. He says the same old thing about any reaction is better than no reaction. He says the fans spent their hard earned money and can cheer or boo like crazy. He brings up how the fans chant “You Suck” at Kurt out of respect and that is the respects he wants. He wants the fans to understand that he wants to do things the right way and he wants their respect.

-Graves jumps to the Reigns/Cena feud and asks if anything Cena said got to him. Roman says he has thick skin as he knows where he came from and knows who he is, so nobody can say anything to bother him. They show Cena crushing him on the mic and calling him out for messing up his promo. Reigns thinks the whole program was a cool situation where two alpha males went at it. He puts over Cena for being great on the mic and being able to be quick on his feet. He claims Cena lit a fire under his ass, but when they got in the ring it was Reigns’ playground. He thanks Cena for pulling him up and he hopes he can do the same to the next generation of young guys.

-They talk about Mania and the match with Taker. He doesn’t know how to take it emotionally if he is the one that retired Taker. It is something they don’t teach you and calls the whole situation a roller coaster of emotions. It was more than he expected it to be, and he mentions he wants to achieve what Taker has.

-The next night the crowd cheers for Taker for 5 minutes as RAW open and it segues to “Roman sucks.” Reigns played that crowd like a fiddle as he milked the hate for all it was worth before leaving them with “This is my yard now,” and dropping the mic.

-Graves asks point blank if Roman is the top guy and he says “every day of the week.” He says he is the king of the mountain and that he will continues to bust his ass. He means it when he says it is his yard, and he calls himself “the best in ring performer in the world right now.” Holy Hell! That should send shock waves throughout the internet wrestling world. Reigns says to go back and watch his PPV matches and you will either think he is crazy or agree with him. Man, there is a whole column someone could right on just taking one side or the other on that statement.

-As I try to digest that they discuss family, and Reigns talks about his babies at home. That wraps things up for this episode.

-Next time Graves gets to interview Enzo Amore.

-This show is fine and was give more time than Unfiltered (though Renee Young can do no wrong), but not as informative and compelling as Legends with JBL. It clocked in at 15 minutes which seems to be a good running time. They covered the topics you would expect and Reigns came off well as he seemed very comfortable. The only note worthy thing besides detailing his battle with the mumps was the “best in ring performer in the world” comment which will raise a lot of eyebrows.
