411’s ECW on Sci-Fi Report 12.25.07

Welcome to the ECW on Sci-Fi! As always, I am Michael Bauer, your 411 ECW Re-capper, wishing you a Merry Christmas and all that fun jazz.

Tazz and Joey Styles are in the studios tonight to do the Best of the ECW for 2007. To recap, we go from Punk to Big Daddy V to Bobby Lashley and everything in between. Tazz puts himself over as announcer.

We start our road through the land of extreme at Wrestlemania and the shaving of Mr. McMahon’s head. We fast forward to McMahon becoming the ECW World Champion and then the rematch, in which Bobby Lashley got screwed out of the title. Lastly, we go along the path Bobby went through to regain the title from McMahon at One Night Stand.

We pick up highlights from One Night Stand and the match between McMahon and Lashley, in a Street Fight. We have Lashley getting put through the announcer’s table by Shane McMahon with his top rope elbow. We have Lashley getting killed by Umaga and Shane missing with his top rope coast to coast dropkick. And finally, the spear that led to Lashley regaining the title.

Tazz and Styles then explain how Lashley lost the title, by being stripped of it when he got drafted to Raw. Later on, we will get to the crowning of a new champion. But for now, a commercial break.

We come back and get a promo video for Kofi Kingston.

Back to Tazz and Styles and they hype him as the first ever WWE Jamaican wrestler. We then go to Wrestlemania, the first time the ECW was represented. The ECW originals came out of the crowd to take on the New Breed and we get some highlights of the match. The match was won with a DDT from Tommy Dreamer, followed by an RVD Frog Splash on Matt Striker. We then go to a match in progress from just two nights later as they had an Extreme Rules rematch. The following is my play by play from that match, starting from the spot in which we join the match.

From April 3, 2007 – Extreme Rules: The New Breed vs. The ECW Originals

Sabu runs off the ropes, jumps off the chair, and dives to the outside. Now in the ring, Burke and Striker go to work on Dreamer with a trash can lid. Burke uses the lid to keep the rest of the originals at bay. Dreamer gets drilled with a back elbow from Thorn. Dreamer ducks a clothesline and hits a DDT on Thorn and a neckbreaker on Burke at the same time. RVD finally gets back in the ring and kicks Striker’s head off. RVD puts a chair on Striker and hits Rolling Thunder while Sabu hits a legdrop for two. Cor Von with a powerbomb on Sabu for two, as Sandman gets a cane shot. Dreamer with a stop sign to the face of Burke. Oh Woe for Burke! Dreamer runs off and dropkicks a steel chair into Burke’s face. Dreamer drives Striker into a garbage can! Sandman catches Cor Von with shots to the back with the cane. Dreamer whips Cor Von, but Cor Von ducks a clothesline and sidewalk slam Dreamer onto an open chair! Cor Von with the POUNCE on the Sandman! Thorn throws a chair into Sabu’s head and he tried to set up a table. Thorn puts the table in the corner and lifts up RVD in a crucifix. RVD slips out and kicks Thorn back into the table. RVD goes up top, but Ariel shakes him off. Thorn looks for the dark kiss but Sabu throws the chair into Thorn’s face! Thorn is put on a table by RVD. RVD and Sabu hit stereo top rope legdrops through the table!!! RVD is sent to the outside. Burke comes out of nowhere with Sabu’s back turned and hits the Elijah Express through the table set in the corner!!! Burke is hurt but is able to get the cover for the three count!

Winners: The New Breed

We then get the old promo video for Elijah Burke, the “chosen one” by Vince McMahon in the new ECW, with some new pieces mixed in. We head to another commercial.

As we come back, we get a promo video for the “Shaman of Sexy” John Morrison. It’s the normal, running down his nicknames and crazy talk about the portal to the infinite.

Back to Styles and Tazz and they do a shameless plug for the new WWE Best of 2007 magazine, which has John Morrison on the cover. They then do a mockery of the entrance he has. They quickly show the end of the match at Vengeance, in which John Morrison wins the vacant ECW Title. Tazz and Styles discuss his ego as champion. We then go a highlight reel from 9/4/07’s episode of ECW, CM Punk’s last shot at the title and the shot that he finally capitalized on. Tons of near falls are shown for both men. Back to Tazz and Styles, who attempt to recap that moment. We head to a commercial, but after that, we will go Survivor Series.

We come back to a promo video for CM Punk, the straight edge ECW Champion. Back to Tazz and Styles and we go to what they call his toughest test to date, the triple threat match at Survivor Series. What, Big Daddy V is nothing? Tazz makes fun of Joey Styles tie and then gives us a gift of that match from Survivor Series. We join the match in progress and the following is the play by play from that night, starting from where we join in progress, originally done by boss Larry:

From WWE Survivor Series – Triple Threat ECW Championship Match: John Morrison vs. CM Punk vs. The Miz

Punk then follows with a suicide dive! Punk tosses Morrison back in, goes for a springboard, but Miz stops him and they double team Punk, a double suplex connects and they rights by Miz as Morrison holds him. Miz now holds Punk, and as Morrison goes for a springboard kick Miz tosses Morrison to the floor, gets a back suplex on Punk and covers for 2. The Miz applies a camel clutch and HUMBLES Punk. Miz breaks and stops Morrison from coming into the match. Enziguri by Punk, and then Morrison flies in with a dropkick to Miz and sends him to the floor. Combo back breaker/neck breaker by Morrison to punk and he gets 2. Morrison works a million dollar dream, Punk fights back and kicks to Morrison land. Morrison tosses him and then Miz slams Punk to the floor. Morrison suplexes Miz back in and floats over and covers for 2. Miz comes back and hits the stroke and covers for 2. Corner clothesline by Miz and a cover for 2 again. To the corner, boots by Morrison and he gets the split legged cork screw moonsault for 2 as Punk saves his title. Punk sets Morrison up top, climbs and SUPER RANA and Miz catches Morrison and gets a powerbomb for 2! Sweet! Punk now gets a cover on Miz for 2. Punk gets a leg lariat to Miz, clotheslines and then the knee of doom! Bulldog connects for 2. Greetings from Chicago by Punk gets 2 on Miz. Morrison rolls up Punk for a close 2. Kicks by Punk, GTS try, Morrison grabs the ropes and to the apron. Miz then nails Morrison to the floor. GTS on Miz! 1…2…3.

Winner: CM Punk

We head straight to a commercial.

When we come back, we have the hype video for Big Daddy V, the unstoppable force, the embodiment of power, and the most dominant force in the WWE. And the guy who hopefully got a shirt for Christmas.

Tazz tries to fathom being on the mat with Big Daddy V splashing on you. Tazz simply calls him big and bad. And of course, with the talent exchange, we have seen Big Daddy V join forces with Mark Henry. They then show how Miz and Matt Hardy won the Smackdown Tag Team Titles from Matt Hardy and MVP. We just get the ending of the match, nothing more.

After that, Styles puts over the Tribute to the Troops, which aired last night. What follows is a brand new video package from this year’s trip to the troops. Great video this year, as always. We head to one more commercial.

Back again and we get a promo video for Smackdown’s Kane. Makes sense since he has done enough on ECW recently. It’s the normal, crazy Kane video we have come to expect.

Back to Tazz and Styles and they put him over and we go to Armageddon with Kane and Punk taking on Big Daddy V and Mark Henry. All we get is the end, with Big Daddy V pinning Punk after a Samoan Drop. We fast forwarded two days to Punk vs. MVP from just last week. We join the match in progress and once again, this is from my recap last week, starting from where we joined the match:

From December 18, 2007: Non Title – CM Punk vs. MVP

MVP goes low and tries a suplex, but Punk hits a knee to the face. Punk off the ropes with a lifting knee for two. MVP in the corner and Punk hits the high knee to the face followed by a bulldog. Punk connects with a springboard clothesline for two. Punk backed into the corner and both men exchange blows. MVP ducks one shot and hits a German suplex with a bridge for two. Punk comes out of nowhere with a step up enziguri to the back of the neck. Punk charges MVP, but MVP dodges and Punk gets hung up in the Tree of Woe. MVP punches away, but ignores the referee’s count and gets disqualified. Punk finally gets out of the Tree of Woe, but MVP charges and hits the big boot to the face of Punk.

Winner: CM Punk by DQ

We also go to Chavo Guerrero’s attack on CM Punk after the match and his very deliberate three amigos and frog splash. One more time, we go to Styles and Tazz and in closing, Tazz apologizes for knocking the tree down last year and for making fun of Joey Styles all year. Tazz has a gift for Joey Styles, so when Styles bends down, Tazz punts his ass into the Christmas tree. HAHAHA!

We close the show with a full year in review video package for ECW, with all of the best and funniest moments of the year.
