Leading games, IP, and toy company, Hasbro, announced this week a new licensing partnership with Nintendo to create new products for The Legend of Zelda franchise. This will be a new multi-year collaboration, which is slated to kick off in 2027.
New products will include a line of six-inch-scale figures, with Hasbro set to reveal the first three figures at San Diego Comic-Con next week, from July 23-26. 411 will also be on-site to check out the new reveals at SDCC next week.
Speaking on the announcement, Hasbro Toys and Board Games President Billy Lagor stated via a press release, “For decades, The Legend of Zelda franchise has captivated fans through its deep lore, unforgettable characters, and enduring sense of discovery. By combining Nintendo’s iconic storytelling with Hasbro’s leadership in action and role-play, we’re delivering toys that invite fans to play, explore and forge their own epic adventures.”
The Legend of Zelda debuted its first video game in 1987, becoming a globally beloved franchise, exploring the adventures of Link and Zelda’s eternal battle against Gandondorf. The fantasy action-adventure unfolds in the world of Hyrule.
Ever since its first title, released in the US in 1987, the Legend of Zelda series has mixed exploration and discovery with action and adventure. Link and Zelda’s eternal battle against Ganondorf forms the centerpiece of these epic tales from the world of Hyrule.
The first live-action Legend of Zelda movie is also in the works, directed by Wes Ball and starring Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link and Bo Bragason as Princess Zelda. The new movie is slated for an April 30, 2027 release from Sony Pictures Entertainment.
