Sean “Diddy” Combs has been sentenced to over four years in prison after being convicted of transportation to engage in prostitution. THR reports that the rap mogul was sentenced on Friday to 50 months in prison on his conviction of two counts in the aforementioned charges, which were violations of the Mann Act.
Combs was arrested in May of 2024 on charges of forcible sex trafficking, transportation of prostitutes and racketeering conspiracy. After a headline-grabbing trial, Combs was convicted on the two charges but acquitted of the racketeering and sex trafficking charges.
Prosecutors in the case were seeking 11 years and three in prison on the charges, which related to allegations that he had trafficked people and forced them to participate in his “freak off” sex parties. Combs’ defense team had asked for just 14 months in prison, which could have resulted in his being set free because he has already been incarcerated for 14 months in the lead up to the trial.
The sentencing came after a day of impact statements from both sides. Combs read an apology to the victims and said, “I can’t change the past, but I can change the future, I ask your honor for mercy. I beg your honor for mercy, to be a father again, a son again and be a leader in my community again and get the help I desperately need.”
Combs was also fined $500,000 and must undergo a five-year supervised release after his sentence. The rapper made a last-ditch effort to vacate his conviction earlier this week, which was denied by the judge. The judge told Combs after his sentencing announcement that he didn’t believe Combs was the changed man he and his legal team claimed, and was convinced when he allegedly attacked an ex-girlfriend after he was indicted and his prperty was raided by federal agents.
Had he been convicted of the trafficking and racketeering charges, Combs would have potentially faced life in prison.
