Hello everyone and welcome to 411mania’s LIVE coverage of UFC Fight Night: Kape vs. Horiguchi, I’m Robert Winfree and I’ll be your host. We’re on the heels of one of the most unique events the UFC has ever put on, and they’re following that up by going back to the warehouse for this event. That said the main event is a relevant bout as Manel Kape takes on Kyoji Horiguchi with the winner being the obvious number one contender to the flyweight title. These two met in 2017 in Rizin with Horiguchi finishing Kape in that bout, but Kape was pretty green in MMA back then. Beyond the main event things get a little less compelling, Hyder Amil is usually action though, Murazali Magomedov has a bit of momentum as a prospect, and Vinicius Oliveira’s featherweight debut carries intrigue. On the prelims Bia Mesquita is still looking to march to the title picture, but beyond that it’s fairly slim pickings. But the action could always be good, so let’s hope for that.

UFC Fight Night: Kape vs. Horiguchi comes to the world from the Meta Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. We’ve got a new trio on commentary tonight with Dan Hellie heading things alongside Michael Bisping and Daniel Cormier while Joe Martinez does the announcing and Heidi Androl handles the roving reporter duties. We’re in the smaller 25 foot cage but Nevada has all the new rules in place, so there’s that at least.

Shane Collins is undefeated coming into his UFC debut, and he’s going to be trying to make the most of this chance at a first impression. Otari Tanzilovi lost on the Contender Series back in 2024 but he’s coming off of a win as he also makes his UFC debut. Collins is the favorite at -205 to a +170 comeback on Tanzilovi.

Featherweight Bout: Shane Collins (7-0, 145.5 lbs.) vs. Otari Tanzilovi (10-1, 145 lbs.)

ROUND ONE: These two are the same height while Collins has an inch of reach advantage. Calf kick from Tanzilovi to start. Bit of a one two from Tanzilovi. Collins keeps looking to move forward, both men then land calf kicks. Not much lateral movement from Tanzilovi. Calf kick from Tanzilovi then he misses a spinning back kick. Collins has a few punches blocked then avoids the counters. Bit of a right from Tanzilovi. They tie up, Tanzilovi lands a knee to the body before breaking. Collins tries to fight off a single leg, Tanzilovi finishes it though. Guillotine attack from Collins, it’s only half guard but the choke is on the dangerous side for Tanzilovi. Eventually Collins bails on the choke and scoots to start wall walking. Collins is able to wall walk and Tanzilovi lands a body kick as they separate. Body shot from Collins in close, then Tanzilovi lands a knee to the body before clinching. They jockey for position then separate. Collins is still pressuring forward, but walks into a right hand. Another right from Tanzilovi. Tanzilovi lands a calf kick. Collins pushes close and looks for a takedown against the fence, Tanzilovi defends though. Collins hits the body a couple of times before Tanzilovi lands a punch. Another clinch and both men throw knees before they break. Single leg from Tanzilovi, Collings grabs an anaconda choke on the way down though. He’s applying pressure the wrong direction, rotationally speaking, to get it before the round ends though.
