The Legend of Zelda Live Action Film Set To Release In March 2027

The live-action Legend of Zelda film has staked out a release two years from now. THR reports that Sony Pictures has set a March 26th, 2027 premiere date for the video game adaptation.

The film has been in development at Sony since November of 2023 and has Wes Ball (Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes) set to direct. No plot details or casting has yet been announced for the movie, which Derek Connolly reportedly wrote.

The Legend of Zelda is one of the most iconic Nintendo franchises. First launched in 1986, it has led to 19 sequels and several spin-offs. Set in the fantasy world of Hyrule, it centers on an elfish warrior named Link who battles the evil Ganon alongside (and sometimes by rescuing) the Princess Zelda.
