“Troopathon 8 – Care Packages for Our Heroes” is a 6-hour long fundraiser that brings together pro-troop movie stars, TV personalities, elected officials, professional athletes, musicians, talk radio hosts and many other supporters to encourage viewers to sponsor care packages for the troops serving overseas through the group’s website (www.troopathon.org) or by phone at (844) 2TROOPS (844-287-6677).
Executive Producer and co-host Melanie Morgan said, “The Troopathon is unique in that it brings together popular actors, TV and radio hosts, foreign policy experts, musicians, professional athletes, retired military personnel and many others for one event. The big names are exciting, but the cause we come together to support is incredibly important. With 10,000 troops still on the ground in Afghanistan, we cannot forget their continued service and sacrifice. Morgan will be joined this year by co-host Rita Cosby, one of the most recognized and respected broadcasters in America, who has been quoted and profiled by hundreds of media outlets across the country and overseas.
Born in Brooklyn, she is a renowned Emmy-winning TV host, veteran correspondent and multiple best-selling author, who anchored highly rated primetime shows on Fox News Channel and MSNBC. She is currently a special correspondent for the top-rated CBS syndicated newsmagazine, Inside Edition, does frequent hosting and reporting for CNN/HLN, and hosts“The Rita Cosby Show” on the legendary WABC Radio.
Because of Rita’s “extraordinary journalism and exemplary service on behalf of her community,” October 11th, 2010 was officially named “Rita Cosby Day” in the State of New York. In 2011, she was recognized by the US Congress for her professional and charitable achievements.
This year Troopathon welcomes back returning guests Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin, Sean Hannity, Ted Cruz, Mike Huckabee, Herman Cain, John Bolton, Adam Carolla, Brad Thor, Dick & Liz Cheney, Pro-Wrestler Hulk Hogan, and so many more. In total, Troopathon brings together over 30 celebrity participants!
“Troopathon 8 – Care Packages for the Troops” will be produced and broadcast live from the Move America Forward Operation Center in Sacramento, California on June 25, 2015 from 1-7PM PST (4-10PM Eastern) via the web and simulcast on selected radio stations.
The first Troopathon in 2008 raised an unprecedented $1.2 million in care packages for the troops. Through 2014, Troopathon events have raised over $4.2 million in sponsorships, enabling the group to send over 325 TONS of care packages to troops overseas. Care packages include letters of support along with high quality food and personal care items like Rogers Family gourmet coffee, OREO cookies, beef jerky, Gatorade, Planters nuts, Hoo-Ahhs field towels, lip balm, deodorant, sun block, and many other useful items requested by the troops.
