Update on Alberto El Patron in WWE, Still Wrestling at AAA Affiliated Events
WWE has signed several AAA wrestlers to contracts since acquiring the promotion, featuring many on their Worlds Collide events. However, one of AAA’s most popular stars, Alberto el Patron, has yet to appear at Worlds Collide and didn’t appear at Triplemania. Patron has a problematic (at best) past and has also had issues with WWE in the past. Back in August, it was reported that there were no plans to use him at that time.
However, Patron recently wrestled at a September 26 event for an AAA affiliate. He teamed with Mr. Iguana to defeat Sam Adonis and DMT Azul. Fans have also chanted for Patron at official AAA events, including Triplemania, and he remains over.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE still hasn’t decided what to do about Patron, if they plan to do anything at all. He was built as a top star in AAA, although he did recently lose a ‘loser leaves town’ match in the promotion. Last week, he was on a show that aired and was taped before the loser leaves town match, although that fact was never indicated to the viewing audience.
