The RJ City-hosted Hey! (EW) came to an end earlier this month, and a new report has some details on how the show wrapped up and RJ City’s AEW status. As noted, the AEW YouTube series came to an end with its December 7th episode. The episode featured comedic bits with Eddie Kingston, Renee Paquette, Tony Khan and Mercedes Mone, in keeping with the series’ tone.
Fightful Select reports that they asked about the show in response to fan questions about its end. The site reports that AEW knew they were wrapping the show for quite a while. The decision had been made by the time of AEW WrestleDream and the bit with Kingston at that show was filmed specifically the final episode. AEW conducted as many interviews as they could in the time it took to edit the last episode.
City also decided to end his “RJ City Makes Coffee In His Underwear” at the same time to have a “clean sweep” of his shows.
As most might expect, City is not leaving AEW. He is involved in AEW’s creative and has been publicly credited in the past for his work with Toni Storm on her creative. City will continue hosting AEW Zero Hour pre-shows, and there is the possibility of doing new content down the line.
