SICKOS! It’s Tuesday, you know what that means!

…Wait, what? Why Tuesday? What happened to Wednesday Night?

WHO CARES! Because tonight is a special occasion and a first time visit in the history of AEW! Grand Slam is taking place this year from the Adidas Arena in Paris, France, and the card is LOADED with title matches! The AEW World Heavyweight Title, the Women’s World Title, the TNT Title, and the Ring of Honor World Title will all be defended, and we will also see Jungle Jack Perry get is wish (or nightmare) when he faces the returning Samoa Joe in a Clockwork Carnage qualifying match! All of this and, of course, so much more in store for us tonight!

This week, I want to change my introduction up. Sure, why not, it IS my work after all! Anyway, another big shoutout to our very own Robert Winfree for covering for me so I could go and see the show last week in Pittsburgh (but really, it’s Oakland). And I know that, as a community, that we must deal with hardships in our own ways and we grieve how we choose to grieve. And in the words of a sign from a fan who was four rows up ahead of me closer to the ring said, “Gravity forgot PAC, but we never will.” And I feel that Dynamite followed by Collision on Saturday were cathartic first steps towards remembering but making a noble attempt to move forward. The lesson, at least to me, is to never take anything for granted and tell those who you love that you love them now, for tomorrow is not guaranteed.

Also, I got some good news or bad news, depending upon whether you like or dislike my work. After setting up my future work schedule at Ulta (I’m going to be a pretty photogenic boy now. STOP LAUGHING!), I am fully able to carry on my duties of bringing you folks live Dynamite coverage AND the previews for the PPV that I know you ALL love! So, for those who like me, I want to let you know that your support willed me towards remaining in this capacity and I love you all! If you don’t like me, well, I can’t help you, and even if I COULD, I WOULDN’T.

But enough about me and enough about you, let’s get ready to go to the Grand Slam under the Eiffel Tower!

GS

Paris is for romance, but tonight, it is for the SICKOS! Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, and Nigel McGuinnes are on the call!

YOU WANTED WAR!

Everyone runs down the card for tonight. Teamwork makes the dream work!

Dang, it looks great in the arena! Can’t wait for the ten thousand different chants lol.

BRISCOE ALERT! BRISCOE ALERT!

Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Title Match: Bandido (C) w/Brody King vs. Kofi w/Austin Creed

Code of honor is adhered to AND we get a hug! Sportsmanship, the game!

Fans are split for both men as we get some arm work early on. Bandido wants to dance, but Kofi laughs and won’t dance. Bandido with arm control, Kofi flips free and now Kofi is dancing! Freaking sweet! Bandido with the side headlock, Kofi sends him off, Bandido leaps over him. Kofi tries again, springboard backflip by the Champion! Bandido looking finger guns, but Kofi shuts that done. That’s some heel shit lol.

Kofi thinks he has the advantage, but Bandido lands on his feet after a monkey flip and he dances! Kofi with a dropkick that sends Bandido to the floor. He goes to fly, but Bandido walks away. Kofi catches Bandido with a dropkick from the apron and this time, Kofi goes flying and takes out Bandido! Kofi rolls Bandido back in, but he comes off the top only to get caught by the Champion! Stalling vertical suplex with appropriate count in French, and Bandido drops him before the count of twenty. We see Swerve Strickland and Prince Nana walk down the ramp. Here comes Hangman Adam Page! Nana and Creed try to restrain Strickland as we hit our first break.

Challenger and Champion are both down as we return. Back to their feet, and Kofi with a kick that RVD would approve of! Bandido sends off Kofi, but he gets kicked in the head for his troubles. Kofi from the top and this time he isn’t caught. Crossbody gets Kofi a two. Off the ropes, big flying lariat from Kofi, and he’s feeling it! NEW LEV-EL and the BOOM has been dropped! Kofi misses the TIP (so we’re just shortening the name, got it), and Bandido with a kick to the gut. It’s his turn to hit a crossbody from the top, but that’s a two. X-Knee, no, towering dropkick from Kofi for a two! Kofi and Bandido play the game of following one another. Knee strike from Bandido, but he runs into the jumping lethal STOMP from Kofi AND we reset!

THIS IS AWESOME chants from the French SICKOS as Bandido baits in Kofi with combination kicks. He takes WAY too long off the top, and Kofi hits the SOS, planting Bandido in the corner! Kofi to the top, conventional splash to the back of Bandido! That gets Kofi a two. Kofi AGAIN heads to the top, but this time Bandido says NO MAS! AVALANCHE FALLAWAY SLAM FROM BANDIDO! The cover, but Kofi gets his hand on the bottom rope. X-Knee, NO, SOS from Kofi but that’s just a two. WE HAVE A SITUATION AT RING SIDE! HANGMAN, BRODY, AUSTIN, AND SWERVE ARE TRYING TO GET AT ONE ANOTHER! While this is going on, Bandido hits the ropes and plants Kofi with the 21-Plex to retain his title!
WINNER: Bandido (And still!)
TIME: 14:30
THOUGHTS: It started out fun with Kofi and Bandido having fun and dancing, but it turned into a match with both men showcasing their pure athletic abilities. The outside distractions played out nicely without creating a winner due to the interactions outside the ring. Fun opener!
RATING: ****

Video package explaining the Clockwork Carnage match next week at WrestleDream. So, it’s basically gauntlet entry and then it turns into the Iron Survivor, pretty much.

Will Ospreay and Speedball Mike Bailey are in the back with the Remarkable Renee Paquette! Ospreay mentions the fact that he has faced Okada 14 times before and he has lost 11 of them. But now, Will is the AEW World Champion, and tonight, things will be different. Renee mentions the winner moves on to the Clockwork Carnage match, and Bailey says that he wants in that match. It turns out he is in a qualifier this Saturday, and he won’t hold back on Will. Ospreay jokes that he is turning his back on him, but he says that is what he wants, the best from Speedball.

Speaking of qualifiers, Samoa Joe and Jack Perry are up, next!

BREAK IN PROGRESS!

Be careful what you wish for, Perry, because you might just get it! Joe enters as we get his inset promo from this past week on Collision.

Clockwork Carnage Qualifying Match: Samoa Joe vs. Jungle Jack Perry

Perry comes running in AND he gets thrown on his face lol. Perry tries the chops now, but Joe is like, why are these flies attacking me? Joe to his feet and to the corner, splash from Perry! Jack tries again, but it doesn’t work as the STJOE connects! Joe looking to fly, Perry moves, but Joe smacks him one!

Joe shows Perry how to properly chop someone, and as an added bonus, he sends Perry over the barricade and to the floor. Joe brings Perry back over the barricade and to the arena floor with a suplex. Joe rolls Perry into the ring, snapmare into a kick to the back. Joe punctuates this with a big elbow drop as Perry rolls away. That will take us to the break.

Joe has continued to punish Perry as we return from break. The fans are into Joe, and Joe likes it! Credit where credit is due, Perry keeps getting up from every chop, ever punch, and every clothesline. JOE punches, Perry with a thrust kick that knocks Joe to the mat. Perry proceeds to punch Joe in the head in the corner. I’m surprised that worked, honestly. Perry proceeds to stomp Joe’s head into the second turnbuckle. Joe says that’s cute and he elbows Perry in the face. Off the ropes, but Perry with a dropkick! Perry looks for a piledriver, but he does score with a sunset flip for a two. Perry into the Snare Trap, but Joe quickly reaches the ropes.

Both men roll out to the floor. Area Code Jones around the ring post by Perry! He foolishly runs at Joe, who hits him with another STJOE! Joe stands over Perry for a second or two before rolling into the ring. At the count of nine, Perry barely gets half of his body in the ring as Grandpa Knox stops counting. Joe is waiting with a back splash, but Perry with a crucifix for a two. Perry to the top, but Joe with the enziguri. He’s thinking Muscle Buster, but he is having second thoughts. That is, until Perry spits in his face. Perry pays for this with the Muscle Buster, and he is moving on!
WINNER: Samoa Joe
TIME: 10:40
THOUGHTS: Credit where it is due, you KNEW who was going to win, but Perry wasn’t just going to lay down and die. It’s great having Joe back!
RATING: ***1/2

Kazuchika Okada with a pre-tape promo! He says his English is getting better, but he has good French as well! He speaks it, but the fans boo lol. Okada says that they will have to build a monument to him when he wins the AEW World Title tonight!

It’s time for Mox and a Rabid Mutt!

AEW Continental Champion Jon Moxley and Gabe Kidd vs. Jake Doyle and Mark Davis

Kidd and Davis to start this one. Kidd tries to run over Davis, but that doesn’t work. He lands repeat chops and punches Davis in the face. Blind tag by Doyle, and the big men run over Kidd. HE’S OUR BASTARD chants, and Moxley with the tag. In a revisit to Saturday, Moxley and Doyle square off. Moxley keeps trying to knock Doyle down, but it doesn’t work. A good amount of momentum and a shoulder tackle do the trick, though! Tag from Kidd, as Moxley hits a basement lariat and Kidd hits the running back senton for a two.

Kidd stalks Doyle to the corner and uses his block head to full effect. He takes WAY too long following up, so Doyle flattens him with a back elbow. Kidd fires back with a big flying clothesline to Doyle. Davis knocks him out, so Moxley is in. Jon sends Mark to the floor, Moxley goes to fly, but Davis catches him. Both men take each other out with matching clotheslines as Doyle and Kidd try to overpower the other man. Double lariat, they both get up and fire up, but they end up butting heads and hitting the mat lol. That will take us to the break.

Davis is in and he crushes Moxley with a lariat and then knocks Kidd to the floor. Tag to Davis, as the DCF big men both stomp out Moxley. Marina looks to be stressed out as Doyle picks up Moxley for a powerbomb but Moxley counters with a DDT!

Kidd is back on the apron, and he gets the tag. He trades strikes with Davis, leaping enziguri from Davis, Kidd fires back with a BIG lariat. He’s feeling it as he hits Davis with the Brainbuster! Doyle is back to save Doyle, as Jake is looking for a powerbomb, but Moxley is back with the sleeper! Both men crash to the floor, as Kidd lowers the knee pad and he smacks Davis with the knee. Both men miss some strikes, both men no-sell back suplexes, and Davis crushes Kidd with the lariat. The piledriver finishes it for Big Mark!
WINNERS: Davis & Doyle, attorneys at law!
TIME: 10:40
THOUGHTS: I’m still not a fan of Gabe Kidd, but I will confess that he is growing on me match by match. It’s not surprising that Davis and Doyle won, especially by pinning Kidd, so this way Moxley gets a challenger for his title at WrestleDream.
RATING: ***1/2

Allin fights back and takes a page from Moxley’s book and gives Kyle a friendly back scratch! Avalanche Code Red is followed up by the ground version of the Code Red for a two.

THOUGHTS: Has there been a match previously between these two that hasn’t delivered? I feel like there hasn’t been, and being behind in the count, Ospreay manages to pick up a big win and retain his title against a game Okada. Maybe it’s cheap to suggest, but with these two guys, MOTN is unavoidable.
RATING: ****1/2
