Hasbro Reveals New Magic: The Gathering & Sonic the Hedgehog Collaboration Dropping in July

Hasbro’s Wizards of the Coast and SEGA today announced a new collaboration for Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair and Sonic the Hedgehog. This includes three distinct Secret Lair drops inspired by the Sonic universe. The new collab features some of the Sonic franchise’s most iconic characters, newly reimagined as Magic: The Gathering Cards.

Each drop from the collab will be on sale starting at 9:00 am PT on July 14, while supplies last. Here’s the breakdown of the three Sonic-themed drops:

Secret Lair x Sonic: Friends & Foes

Friend & Foes features seven new designs featuring the Sonic characters, with new card designs with original art. There are also some designs of fan-favorite Sonic artists doing their first-ever work for Magic: The Gathering:

* 1x Knuckles the Echidna
* 1x Amy Rose
* 1x Dr. Eggman
* 1x Miles ‘Tails’ Prower
* 1x Shadow the Hedgehog
* 1x Sonic the Hedgehog

Secret Lair x Sonic: Chasing Adventure

Chasing Adventure reimagines seven Magic cards with a new spin, including a new Sol Ring and a new Treasure token:

* 1x Open the Armory
* 1x Fabricate
* 1x Deadly Dispute
* 1x Unexpected Windfall
* 1x Sol Ring
* 1x Treasure token

Secret Lair x Sonic: Turbo Gear

Lastly, Turbo Gear features iconic items from the world of Magic reimagined in the world of Sonic the Hedgehog. Wizards of the Coast also revealed that the Turbo Gear drop is designed to pair with the Secret Lair x Sonic: Friend & Foes drop. For example, the Knuckles card can be paired with Reaver Cleaver as “Knuckle’s Gloves.” Here’s the breakdown:

* 1x Swiftfoot Boots as “Air Shoes”
* 1x Myr Battlesphere as “Egg Hammer”
* 1x Hammer of Nazahn as “Piko Piko Hammer”

The Secret Lair and Sonic the Hedgehog card drops will be available in regular packs for $39.99 for the standard edition, $49.99 for the foil versions for Friends & Foes. Secret Lair packs will be priced at $29.99 for standard, $39.99 for the foil. And lastly, $29.99 and foil editions for $39.99 for Turbo Gear.
