New Tomb Raider Game Announced, Will Use Unreal Engine 5

Crystal Dynamics has announced a new Tomb Raider game, revealing that it will run on Unreal Engine 5. The company made the announcement during Epic Games’ State of Unreal showcase on Tuesday, with the franchise’s General Manager Dallas Dickinson appearing at the end to announce the new game.

There were no details on the new game revealed, including a potential release window or what platforms it will come to. The game is still in early development at this time.

The Tomb Raider franchise has seen a long history of success Crystal Dynamics, starting in 2006 with Tomb Raider: Legend. A rebooted continuity kicked off with 2013’s Tomb Raider, followed by 2015’s Rise of the Tomb Raider. 2018’s Shadow of the Tomb Raider was produced primarily by Eidos-Montréal with Crystal Dynamics providing additional development.
