SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance Will Feature Sonic’s Dr. Eggman & Two More Guest Characters

SEGA announced this week that SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance will feature some guest characters in the SEGA Villains Stage of the upcoming game. The Villains Stage will be released as new DLC for the game later next year, with Joe Musashi facing off against the iconic nemesis of the Sonic the Hedgehog series, Dr. Eggman (aka Dr. Ivo Robotnik).

Additionally, two more guest villains will be featured in the game. The Villain Stage will be available for Art of Vengeance in early 2026.

SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance, developed in collaboration with Lizardcube, the studio behind Streets of Rage 4, features the return of the series’ longtime protagonist, Joe Musashi, who returns home to find his village burned to the ground, and his clan turned to stone. On a quest of vengeance, Joe sets on an epic journey, facing hordes of enemies and larger-than-life bosses.

SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance launches on August 29. It will be available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Windows PC via Steam, and the Nintendo Switch. The game will be available for $29.99. A free demo featuring an enhanced version of the game’s first stage, Oboro Village, is also available for download now on Steam.

Art of Vengeance will also be available in a physical standard edition, Classic Edition, and Collectors’s Edition through the Limited Run Games website. You can also check out a new trailer showcasing the game’s Desert Stage introduction below:
