Silent Hill 2 is officially getting a remake after months of speculation. Konami announced during their SIlent Hill Transmission stream that the popular 2001 survival horror game is getting a remake that will be developed by Bloober Team. The game will be released on PlayStation 5 and PC and will be a PS5 console exclusive for 12 months, with no release date set.

The original Silent Hill 2 was release in 2001 and is considered one of the greatest horror games ever made. It introduced the character of Pyramid Head into Silent Hill’s mythology and focuses on the character of James Sunderland, who travels to the ghostly town of Silent Hill after receiving a letter from his dead wife informing him that she’s there.

It was noted in the announcement that Masahiro Ito and series composer Akira Yamaoka will be part of the remake, which producer Motoi Okamoto noted on the PlayStation Blog will be built via Unreal Engine 5. The new game will include an over-the-shoulder camera, upgraded combat, and rebuilt set pieces, with the engine allowing for improved lighting and textures.
