Ultimate Fighter 28 Heavy Hitters

The Ultimate Fighter 28: Heavy Hitters Episode EIGHT
INTRODUCTION: Season 28 of the Ultimate Fighter is here. This season will feature women’s featherweights and men’s heavyweights divisions, and the coaches are current UFC Middleweight Champion Robert Whittaker battling against title contender and former middleweight The Ultimate Fighter 17 winner Kelvin Gastelum. LAST WEEK, Juan Francisco Espino Diepa (8-1, 0-0 TUF) defeated Ben Sosoli (6-2 MMA, 0-0 TUF). This week, Macy Chiasson (2-0 MMA, 0-0 TUF) vs. Larissa Pacheco (11-2 MMA, 0-0 TUF).

– Macy Chiasson trains at the UFC Performance Institute. We see some footage of her two fights, which she won and finished her opponents. Back at the TUF gym, the training continues. Macy knows he lacks experience compared to her opponent, but that doesn’t bother her. Larissa hits the treadmill at the house, leading to home video from Brazil. She lives a simple life, cycling, training, and enjoying coffee.

– Maurice Greene is drinking too much at the house, scaring some of the others (especially the women fighters) with his actions. Greene fell asleep drunk in the living room, and his teammates are getting annoyed because he stays up late, is yelling, and is disturbing their sleep. He also has to fight soon and makes them late for practice.

– We see Larissa practice, and Whittaker loves her BJJ, but also thinks her striking is almost as good. We see footage of some of her pre-TUF fights. Whittaker knows her strength is on the ground, but feels she can control anywhere.

– Macy is from New Orleans and her home was ravaged by Katrina. She loves it there, and even though she travels more these days, there is no place like it to her. We see her spending time with her family, including a shrimp boil and I am hungry now. She’s very close with her family, and got into MMA through krav maga.

– Larissa arrives at the UFC Performance Institute to work on her weight cut, she’s the heaviest woman in the house, and has a big weight cut. Her teammates are concerned over how difficult her cut is and that it will hurt her fight.

– Prior to weigh-ins, Larissa is 147.3, and questions if she can make weight or not.

WEIGH-INS: Macy Chiasson (146) vs. Larissa Pacheco (146)

– Greene and Frazier drink, leading to Anderson Da Silva arriving, talking shit and a drunk Greene getting pissed. Silva then told Frazier (who beat him) that he hits like a pussy.

– We get the usual pre-fight warm-ups. In the bleachers, Greene and Frazier talk shit on the other heavyweights. They drank a whole bottle of Patron.

Macy Chiasson (2-0 MMA, 0-0 TUF) vs. Larissa Pacheco (11-2 MMA, 0-0 TUF): ROUND ONE: Larissa has a huge MMA experience advantage, but Macy is 5-inches taller and has a 2-inch reach advantage. Macy immediately fires away with high kicks and strikes, backing off Larissa. Larissa looks to clinch, takes her to the cage, but Macy circles out and lands strikes before Larissa clinches again. Larissa hits some knee strikes, scores a takedown but Macy pops up and she gets a takedown, landing inside control. She lands some strikes, Larissa rolls but eats more strikes. Macy takes her back, gets the hooks in and ground and pound follows. The ref waves it off. OFFICIAL DECISION: Macy Chiasson via RD1 referee stoppage

– Whittaker is not a fan of the stoppage. Macy was surprised it was so easy, while Larissa is disappointed that she did nothing.

– Dana meets with the coaches about semifinal fights. It’s a rare, chill conversation about it.
