Ultimate Fighter 28 Heavy Hitters

The Ultimate Fighter 28: Heavy Hitters Episode NINE
INTRODUCTION: Season 28 of the Ultimate Fighter is here. This season will feature women’s featherweights and men’s heavyweights divisions, and the coaches are current UFC Middleweight Champion Robert Whittaker battling against title contender and former middleweight The Ultimate Fighter 17 winner Kelvin Gastelum. LAST WEEK, Macy Chiasson defeated Larissa Pacheco via RD1 stoppage. This week, Michel Batista (4-0 MMA, 1-0 TUF) vs. Justin Frazier (10-2 MMA, 1-0 TUF).

– The coaches are concerned over Maurice Greene’s drinking and how he acts when he drinks. Greene keeps talking shit and Anderson Da Silva thinks he’s trouble. I’m not sure if Greene’s an asshole when he drinks or if he’s just an asshole. This leads to the fighters being less than excited to be returning to the house. Team Whittaker gets dinner ordered to the gym for them so they can stay for a while. Whittaker felt this was best for his team.

– Back at the house, Greene is still being a complete asshole and Marciea Allen has had enough of his shit. Gastelum and his coaches arrive at the house, and celebrate Macy’s birthday. They brought her a bottle of Don Julio; you better hide that shit from Greene. Gastelum gives him a heart to heart talk and tries to refocus Greene. Greene gets emotional and says he’s usually a happy drunk. Team Whittaker arrives and Greene is told to behave himself. Greene blames the pressure of the house on his actions. Greene acts like he’s going to be nice and go to bed, and then yells he’s going to get fucked up. The coaches return and bust him and tell him to go to bed. Greene then confronts Anderson Da Silva, talking shit to him when they leave the second time. Yeah, he’s just an asshole. Greene threatens to slap Da Silva on the last day and continues to keep talking.

– Marciea Allen isn’t going to training as the others prepare to leave to train. She’s sitting outside and doesn’t want to train, because she’s had enough of Greene. She feels this has turned into an unhealthy environment and plans to leave tomorrow. She doesn’t want to be around this anymore and doesn’t want to be around Greene any longer.

– We see Michel Batista train, as Whittaker praises Batista’s Olympic level wrestling, but knows Frazier is powerful and has big strikes. Batista is drilling his striking defense. Whittaker says if Batista gets it to the ground he can win.

– Some of the Team Gastelum fighters go to get TUF 28 tattoos.

– We now see Frazier train, as Gastelum praises his improvement and underrated wrestling skills. Frazier is nervous & excited to face Batista. He’s confident he can win.

– Team Gastelum has a team meeting about Allen wanting to leave. Allen explains why she wants to leave, and tells Greene it’s because of him. Greene apologizes and promises to keep his distance if she stays. They all hug it out and Allen decides to stay.

WEIGH-INS: Batista (263), Frazier (264.5)

– We get the usual pre-fight prep.

Michel Batista (4-0 MMA, 1-0 TUF) vs. Justin Frazier (10-2 MMA, 1-0 TUF): ROUND ONE: Frazier had the MMA experience advantage, while Batista is an Olympic level wrestler. Batista is taller and has a 6-inch reach advantage. They come out, circle and Frazier backs him off and starts landing strikes. Frazier follow with leg kicks, and backs off Batista with a combo. Batista keeps backing away as Frazier lands more leg kicks and controls the cage. Batista looks afraid, continually backing off and not doing anything. Frazier starts landing more. Frazier is annoyed with Batista doing nothing and starts landing again and starches him; ground and pound finishes it. OFFICIAL DECISION: Justin Frazier via RD1 TKO

– Batista offered absolutely nothing here. He says he felt hurt in the fight and couldn’t do anything.
