Adam Piccolotti spoke with MMAjunkie about the death of Jordan Parsons, who he was supposed to face at Bellator 154 next week. Parsons is now set to face Ray Wood at the event. Some highlights are below:

On Parsons’ death: “I didn’t necessarily know Jordan, but I felt like I did. After thinking about him so much and preparing for him so much, checking his social media, I felt like I knew the dude. Like, I knew him well. So when this happened, it was a real eye-opener and a real flash about how quick life can be. It put me in a bit of an emotional roller-coaster, to say the least, and it made me really grateful for each and every day.”

On facing a new opponent because of it: “It’s been a really weird state for my brain to be in, where all this time I’ve been preparing to damage this person, and then now it’s like, this horrible tragedy has happened, and I feel nothing but emotion and pain for this kid. It’s definitely a little bit weird.”

On training for the bout: “I’ve just been training my butt off. That’s re-lit a fire under my butt to do my best to take this horrible thing and use some sort of motivation from it, I guess you could say. I’m going to try to stay focused on the issue at hand, and going out there and getting my hand raised and moving on to the next one after that.”
