MMA Junkie reports that UFC women’s flyweight champion Nicco Montano is listed as the underdog in her title fight with Valentina Shevchenko at UFC 228. The event happens on September 9 and airs on PPV from the American Airlines Arena in Dallas. Montano is the inaugural champion after winning The Ultimate Fighter 26 late last year.

BetDSI Sportsbook has Montano as the +360 underdog with Shevchenko a -550 favorite. That means that a winning $100 bet on Montano would get you $360 (win probability of 22%), while a similar bet on Shevchenko would only get you $18.18 (win probability of 85%). They’re the worst opening odds ever for a defending UFC champion. For example, Matt Serra’s odds to beat Georges St-Pierre in 2008 closed at +430, but they weren’t that wide when odds opened.

For Montano’s last fight at the TUF 26 finale, she was the -210 favorite. Shevchenko has been the favorite in her past three fights: Priscila Cachoeira (submission win), Amanda Nunes (split-decision loss) and Julianna Pena (submission win).
