Dana White Says Cris Cyborg WIll Be Released By UFC: ‘We’re Out of the Cyborg Business’

Cris Cyborg’s contentious relationship with the UFC is at an end, according to Dana White. White said in an interview released today that Cyborg, who completed her most recent deal by defeating Felicia Spencer last month, will be released from the company. You can see the full interview below.

White and Cyborg have been at odds for some time, going back to before Cyborg even signed with the UFC. The most recent dustup came because Cyborg has said she wants a rematch with Amanda Nunes, while White said Cyborg is afraid of that fight. As recently as this past weekend, White said he had “no ill will” to Cyborg and was “trying to get something done” regarding a contract, but that is apparently done with.

“All this other bulls—t she’s putting out there, again, to avoid fighting Amanda Nunes. Message received,” White said (per MMA Fighting). “I get it. I’m going to release her from her contract. I will not match any offers. She is free and clear to go to Bellator or any of these other organizations and fight these easy fights that she wants. Done. Done deal. I will literally today have my lawyer draft a letter to her team that she is free and clear to go wherever she wants. We’re out of the Cyborg business.”

After a contract is completed in the UFC, a fighter typically has a three-month period where they can only negotiate a potential contract with the UFC. White is saying he will waive the exclusive renegotiation window so she can go talk with other companies.
