Dana White Slams Officiating by Marc Goddard at UFC 234
UFC President Dana White took referee Marc Goddard to task for his poor officiating at last night’s UFC 234 event. Speaking at the post-fight press conference for the event, Dana White spoke out on the poor job he thought Marc Goddard did in officiating the Jim Crute vs. Sam Alvey fight. Below are some highlights and a video from the presser (h/t MMAjunkie).
UFC 234 was held last night at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia. The event was broadcast live on pay-per-view. Prelims were shown on ESPN and UFC Fight Pass. You can check out 411’s full results from the event RIGHT HERE.
White on Jim Crute vs. Sam Alvey: “I think he looked damn good, and especially against a really tough guy. I think there’s only been three people that have ever finished him out of 40-something fights. I didn’t agree with the stoppage – I thought it was a bad stoppage. A lot of those shots were hitting him on the arm. He was obviously hurt. But the fight could have gone a little longer and we could have seen a little more of Crute. Bad stoppage in my opinion.”
White on how Marc Goddard messed up: “The ref screwed that up, too. The ref jumped in there and he thought the ref was breaking it up. The ref did a really, really bad job. Real poor refereeing in that fight, and when something like that happens, it could have cost Crute the fight, because if Alvey got back up … and then he goes to stop it too soon, and then he stopped it too early. It happens sometimes, and it sucks for Sam.”
