Daniel Cormier Calls Out Jon Jones, USADA Over ‘Atypical’ Drug Test, UFC 232 Move

Daniel Cormier predictably took to social media in order to take shots at Jon Jones and USADA over Jones’ “atypical” drug test result ahead of UFC 232. After Jones tested positive for trace amounts of turinabol, Cormier posted to Twitter with a couple of comments:

USADA and Novitzky, the UFC VP of Athlete Health and Performance, said that the test did not constitute an anti-doping violation. Novitzky said, “…what both USADA and other entities are seeing is that a recurrence, or potential ‘pulsing,’ where you have multiple negative tests and then a positive one for a very low amount – they’re seeing that quite commonly over time. And no one knows how long this could last – it could potentially last forever (in Jones’ system).”

The UFC announced in the wake of the test result that the event, which takes place on Saturday, has been moved at the last moment from Las Vegas to Los Angeles because the NSAC does not have enough time to properly investigate the situation so that Jones can be cleared to fight. The NSAC announced that it is allowing Jones to withdraw his application for a fight license in Nevada so that he can be licensed to fight in California, and Jones will appear before the commission in a hearing in January.
