Daniel Straus Not Planning to Leave Bellator

Daniel Straus spoke with MMAjunkie about his career status and more. Some highlights are below:

On staying with Bellator: “I’m a fighter that’s here to provide for my family. I love Bellator. I don’t see myself leaving. I’ve never been offered another contract. I’ve never talked about another contract. So it’s never been there on that table. Right now, it seems like Bellator is a good home for me. But I definitely want to get paid for my efforts. I’m not saying I’m not getting paid, but that’s just how the business is.”

On free agency: “If it came about, I would explore free agency, but that’s the furthest thing from my mind right now.”

On his next fight: “(Patricio Freire) thinks (the title shot is next), but he’s a little crazy, anyway. In my head, it would probably be either Weichel or him – but nothing’s been told to me. Weichel was waiting, I broke my hand, and I really think that’s going to be a fun one.”

On fighting overseas: “I’ve actually never fought outside the states, so that would be fun. I know (Weichel) has a huge, huge following over there. And I have a lot of respect for Weichel, so that would be a fun fight. In my opinion, the only reason the ‘Pitbull’ fight would be too soon right now is mostly because we had the rematch, and then I broke my hand. Fight him right after that? I don’t think they would do that.”
