Daniel Straus Set to Defend Featherweight Title Against Patricio Freire at Bellator 178
Bellator MMA officially announced today a new featherweight title fight for Bellator 178, with champion Daniel Straus defending his title against Patricio “Pitbull” Freire for the fight card. The event is set for April. This will be a rematch from their title bout at Bellator 145 in November 2015, where Straus beat Freire by decision.
This will be the fourth fight between Straus and Freire. They fought for the first time at Bellator 45 in 2011, which Straus won. Freire won the rematch at Bellator 132 in January 2015 to win the featherweight title. Then Straus won their last rematch at Bellator 145 to regain the strap.
Tickets for Bellator 178 go on sale on February 24 to the general public. There will be a Bellator Nation Pre-sale for tickets on February 22 and 23. Tickets will be available at the Mohegan Sun Arena Box Office, Ticketmaster, and Bellator.com. The full card will be announced in the coming weeks.
Bellator 178 is set for April 21 at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut. The main card will be broadcast on Spike TV. Prelims will be shown on Spike.com.
