Derek Brunson Will Fight Anyone Next Who Gets Him Closer to a Title Shot

Derek Brunson spoke with MMAjunkie following his win over Uriah Hall at UFC Fight Night 94. Some highlights are below:

On Hall protesting the stoppage: “Nobody’s really thrilled when they go out there and get caught with a shot. It can go a little bit longer. … But if the ref doesn’t jump in, I’m going to keep punching and there’s going to be more damage. That’s five minutes of punching right there, or however much time is left. I hit him with a left hook on the feet, and he just buckled and dropped. He was out.”

On not trash talking after the fight: “I’m a nice guy. It’s business to me. I do this for my family, my kids, my friends. If Uriah would’ve knocked me out, he probably would’ve been like digging the shovel, throwing it on my grave, taunting me, talking all kinds of trash. It’s just business for me. I went out there and got the win, so on to the next.”

On his next fight: “Next for me? I don’t know. I was hearing a little something, but I’m not sure. I’m going to get back and wait and see what’s next for me. I’m pretty much down to fight anybody that’s going to get me close to a title shot.”
